Потребность в самолёте такого назначения остро ощутилась в 1935 году, когда итальянцы начали боевые действия в Эфиопии. Армии срочно понадобился бомбардировщик, умеющий наносить точные удары по целям и обладающий при этом сравнительно высокими скоростными данными. Именно такие требования к самолёту непосредственной поддержки войск выдвинул в начале 1930-х гг. полковник А.Мекоззи. Помимо штурмовых ударов по живой силе и технике бомбардировщик должен был обладать мощным вооружение, а также уметь бомбить с пикирования, разрушать склады и коммуникации противника. Chapter 1 shows that AI-related technologies if applied in the case of defence wholesale, have the potential to revolutionise warfare by changing not only the character but also the nature of warfare. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the possible use of AI-related technologies in the various branches of the military. For him, at the strategic level, the effect of AI is ambiguous. Author argues that, at present, the effects of AI at the tactical and operational levels are massive and amount to an RMA.
